Internet Safety – A Talk For Parents
What are the potential dangers?
How can you protect children when they are online or using their mobile phone?
It is not about blocking content online; it is more about teaching children how to be responsible when online, by making parents aware of the dangers and highlighting some practical tips.
Topics covered include issues such as social networking, searching online, online gaming, YouTube, cyber-bullying and mobile phone safety.

Tutor: Dr. Maureen Griffin, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. holds an honours degree in Applied Psychology, a Masters in Forensic Psychology and a Ph.D. in Applied (Forensic) Psychology (specifically in the area of Sex Offender Assessment). She is an Associate Lecturer in the School of Applied Psychology, University College Cork and also lectures in the areas of abnormal psychology, mental health and crime, sexual offenders, online internet solicitation and risk assessment on Forensic Psychology, Criminal Behaviour & Criminalistics courses across Ireland.
Maureen is the founder of Internet Safety for Schools Ireland www.isfsi.ie and has visited over 150 schools (primary & post primary) across Ireland speaking with students, staff, BOM members and parents regarding issues around social media, cyber-bullying and internet and mobile phone safety.
